Purpose of the Role 

Currently TechSoup is looking for a Legal enabling environment for CSOs Manager who is motivated to make an active and lasting contribution to building a better legal environment for civil society in Central and Eastern Europe. If you are interested in making impact in the space of civil society and you have an open, positive mindset and a highly collaborative, can-do attitude, we want to hear from you. You will be working closely with the leadership team in Europe, the TechSoup Global Network, and other contributors outside the organization.

Manager will be responsible for designing and overseeing all advocacy, networking and outreach activities related to this advocacy part of the program aiming strengthening the CSOs resilience in Central and Eastern Europe (with specific focus on Poland and Hungary). The scope of duties includes establishing and maintaining strong relationship with project partners and stakeholders and engage relevant partners in advocacy initiatives (meetings, webinars, expert roundtables, communication campaigns).


Your duties and responsibilities

  • Leading on developing and adopting the advocacy strategy aimed at creating legal enabling environment for CSO in Central Europe, with particular focus on Poland
  • Developing strategic plans for agreed advocacy objectives, and accountable for its implementation in collaboration with the Program Team, Partners and Program Grantees,
  • Coordinating the work of the Partners, Team Members, experts and other stakeholders involved in the activities focused on creating legal enabling environment for CSO such as mapping each country’s priorities for advocacy, identifying specific legal issues affecting civic space and designing awareness raising activities
  • Providing expertise on CSOs related regulations, civic rights, access to information, AI, technology usage for transparency and accountability by citizens
  • Selecting and overseeing the performance of trainers, mentors, tutors and experts involved in activities
  • Designing, organizing and coordinating all events planned in the project: experts' meetings, regional events, policy events in cooperation with team members and partners
  • External stakeholder management ranging from partner sourcing, partner escalations and ongoing partner management. 
  • Establishing of a new partnership in the project field in Poland and Europe (organizations and institutions)
  • Working closely with partners and beneficiaries in achieving the strategic goals of cooperation.


Skills you'll need to accomplish your duties

  • Legal background.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the projects focusing on CSOs legal environment in Europe with a proven delivery record (legal knowledge in enumerated areas would be an asset: civic rights, access to information, data privacy, AI, technology usage for transparency and accountability by citizens) 
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector is essential, specifically in Poland and in other Central European countries.
  • Understanding of CSOs environment in Central and Eastern Europe, especially key stakeholders, experts, coalitions and networks in the civil society sector.
  • Experience in developing advocacy, law-making processes, coalition building, stakeholders' engagements strategies.
  • Deep understanding of the condition, challenges and needs of the civil society sector in Poland.
  • Strong communications skills
  • Attuned to multicultural environments and skilled at engaging diverse stakeholders 
  • Fluency in English and Polish, both oral and written communications.
