Purpose of the Role  

Currently TechSoup is looking for a Grant ad Finance Manager who is motivated to make an active and lasting contribution to building a better environment for civil society in Central and Eastern Europe. You will be working closely with the leadership team in Europe, the TechSoup Global Network, and other contributors outside the organization. 

Grant and Finance Manager’s is accountable for finance management of the project aiming at CSOs capacity building in Central and Eastern Europe (with a special focus on CSOs from Poland and Hungary). Manager’s role is to oversee all types of CSOs grants formal and financial implementation across the project. Manager is accountable for high quality formal and financial standards implementation. 


Your duties and responsibilities 

  • Accountability for the Program finance management in close collaboration with Chief of the Party and Head of Finance. 

  • Oversight of the Program budget planning, execution and reporting, including Partners’ budgets, in compliance with all donor’s requirements as well as internal policies and procedures and legal requirements. 

  • Assessing costs eligibility and approving all costs incurred by the Program Team members, including Partners’ costs. 

  • Overseeing all types of CSOs grants formal and financial implementation across the program (capacity building grants, emergency grants, collaborative projects, and other). 

  • Ensuring that project budgets are executed in a timely manner, within a budget, and in accordance with the grant agreement, including Partners’ budgets. 

  • Setting up the project finance management workflow compliant with funders/grants requirements, applicable laws, approved TS policies, monitoring the processes and implementation of the procedures by Program Team.  

  • Coordinating all finance related tasks delivered by Program Team Members. 

  • Supporting project budget implementation and reporting to ensure compliance with funders/grants requirements, applicable laws, approved policies and procedures including allocations and allowances. Overseeing Project Manager and all Partners finance inputs to project reports and documents. 

  • Ensuring that accurate and timely financial statements are prepared in accordance with contract agreements with funders. 

  • Implementing and managing project monitoring systems/tools which will provide timely and periodic reports to grantors and which will be able to identify problems that grantees are encountering in implementing their grant activities. 



Skills you'll need to accomplish your duties 

  • Degree in a related field such as business administration, finances, development, international relations, and management. 

  • At least 5 years hands on grant management experience in a dynamic and multi-cultural international setting, including EU funds, EOG funds, private donors' funds. Experience in re-granting and controlling. 

  • Experience in managing US federal grant projects is a plus.  

  • Knowledge of and experience with European Union Institutions’ procedures as well as US federal grants procedures on calls and tenders. 

  • Thorough knowledge of internal control systems and auditing standards. 

  • Experience with financial report preparation, and matrix budget preparation/compilation. 

  • Attuned to multicultural environments and skilled at engaging diverse stakeholders  

  • Ability to work effectively and with sensitivity across barriers such as language, culture and distance  

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills. Detail oriented and ability to work and interpret numbers, figures, and other financial information 

  • Exceptional communication skills – both oral and written 

  • Fluency in Polish and English, both oral and written communications
