Social Media and Community Engagement Specialist

 

 

TechSoup is looking for a highly motivated, creative Social Media and Community Engagement Specialist that has experience and a passion for connecting with our nonprofit community and corporate sponsors. Community leadership, customer service and participation (both online and offline) are integral to this role’s success.

 

This role is instrumental in developing, implementing, and maximizing TechSoup’s social strategy, producing creative content, and building online communities.

 

In addition to amplifying TechSoup’s global marketing and communication efforts on social, this role will be critical in shaping strategy and production for our online events while exploring new formats for engaging with our community of nonprofits and partners.

 

Job Duties

Social Media (60%)

  • Produce high-quality strategy and content for social media channels
  • Work closely with various stakeholders to produce content and coach employees on best social media practices.
  • Create and manage a social media content calendar that aligns to department marketing and communication strategy.
  • Deploy social listening for monitoring hashtags and leaders in the nonprofit tech space, building relationships with future partners and finding user-generated content.
  • Grow our use of video on social by turning blog and event content into shareable videos.
  • Define and report monthly on strategic metrics and KPIs.
  • Run, test and report on social media advertising campaigns.
  • Perform testing of assets and new creative formats like Instagram Stories.
  • Manage social media contactor(s) as needed.

 

Community Engagement (40%)

  • Build and suggest recommendations for improving TechSoup’s online community through our existing Forums and LinkedIn group.
  • Shape the development and assist production for online events, including but not limited to webinars, Tweet Chat and Facebook Live. Production consists of efforts from start to finish, such as gathering information, working with guests on pre-production, scheduling and writing promotional content.
  • Attend in-person events when possible to provide on-the-ground social media support.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum four years of experience
  • Experience developing social media strategies and content
  • Experience working with and developing a marketing and communications plan
  • Excellent writer and detail-oriented copyeditor
  • Graphic design skills a plus
  • Experience producing live online events a plus
  • Proven ability to build a social media community
  • Understand how to measure the success of campaigns
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Customer service and brand-building mindset
  • HubSpot experience a plus
