Director of eLearning and Training

The TechSoup Director of eLearning and Training requires a dynamic program lead, experienced in instructional design, program development, and management. This individual should also bring exceptional organizational and management skills to lead in the development and delivery of TechSoup's expanding global eLearning programs. You will work closely with SMEs and our global partners to implement educational programs that help learners achieve specific objectives. You will act as a program manager to promote and execute this vision for TechSoup and our global partner network. This role requires skillful coordination across TechSoup's global communications, development and marketing teams.

The ideal candidate will have a significant instructional design and adult education background, project management experience, strong organizational and communication skills. They should also bring a passion for helping nonprofits, and experience with developing engaging learning experiences for community members. This position requires someone with a can-do attitude, the ability to figure out what needs to get done, and the initiative to do it and/or ensure it gets done.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage strategic, business, operational, and tactical aspects of multiple education projects
  • Manage relationship with our LMS provider with an eye for understanding how to leverage technology to achieve the program’s mission
  • Prepare and implement action plans on time and on budget
  • Manage course-creation schedule and roadmap
  • Work with SMEs to design and deliver engaging learning activities and compelling course content
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders
  • Manage scope and mitigate risk across projects
  • Manage ongoing analyses of course content outcomes, initiating corrective actions
  • Stay on top of adult education trends, determine program and process improvements, and implement improvements
  • Work across organization and global partner network to discover and share lessons learned and best practices
  • Continually seek and implement opportunities to increase learner loyalty and deepen relationships
  • Work with team to evaluate learner outcomes and translate these into useful data and communicate outcomes for decision making purposes
  • Evaluate the impact of the materials based on learner feedback, surveys, and analytics
  • Contribute to and prepare project-related reports, proposals, evaluations and presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in instructional design and instructional methodology
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with and managing SMEs
  • Management experience, remote team management experience preferred
  • Deep knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience creating and delivering trainings for adults in classroom, blended learning and online formats
  • Demonstrated lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with LMS platforms required
  • Strong attention to detail and take ownership attitude
  • Highly analytical thinking with talent for identifying, analyzing, and improving work processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and communicate with all levels in the organization

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively and accurately communicate verbally and in writing required
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through required
  • Audio/visual experience with Camtasia, other video production software required
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, NetSuite, Adobe CC, SharePoint)
  • Exhibit professionalism and flexibility in the midst of a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment required
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work collaboratively and manage several aspects of a project at once
  • Critical thinking and creative ideas required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with technology experts on collaborative projects required
  • Ability to identify and deliver engaging content to NPOs, NGO’s and libraries
  • Sense of humor and ability to course correct and change direction depending on business needs
  • A love of learning and desire to work in a fast-paced, community-driven environment
