TechSoup Global is seeking a Dev-Ops Engineer with extensive server and web application experience to help build, operate, and support our next generation Platform solutions. We are looking for passionate IT infrastructure operations experts with experience delivering high quality platform solutions that support a variety of customer use cases. We want someone who can work well across several technology stacks, and the data systems that support them.  

As a member of the TSG Community & Platform team, you will work closely with the Senior Director of Community and Platform and the VP of Enterprise Architecture to help develop TSG social and e-commerce applications. You will have responsibility for helping build and support our next-generation individual and shared platforms to scale for a complex global, multi-language suite of systems to serve a wide variety of users and programs, some of which haven’t yet been defined.  


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Design for, recommend, implement, and support needed systems architecture to support a system of web platforms and applications that can scale to millions of users and hundreds of millions of interactions. 

  • Day-to-day support of platform applications and the supporting infrastructure systems, resolving and troubleshooting low-level issues as they arise, and working closely with enterprise architects to resolve critical and long-term systems issues 

  • Create and manage automated deployment routines for infrastructure builds. 

  • Implement and manage monitoring tools and response protocols. 

  • Build and release software regularly, ensuring that frequent releases are production-level quality. 

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous innovative improvement. 

  • Develop applications to support business requirements.  

  • Provide on-call support for critical issues 



  • Degree in computer science or other technical discipline (M.S. preferred) 



  • Expert understanding of web and database technologies (Linux, Microsoft, IIS, Apache, MySQL, Mongo, Postgres, Java, object-oriented JavaScript, HTML, CSS), and experience with current web standards, including HTML5 and CSS3. 

  • Expert understanding of IaaS cloud infrastructure systems such as AWS and Azure, including IP networking expertise and DNS 

  • Expert understanding of web application and Internet security best practices  

  • Experience developing applications using Java, JavaScript, C#, and/or other programming languages 

  • Experience developing for large-scale systems and web applications. Scaling to millions of users. 

  • High level of expertise with scripting languages, including PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby. 

  • Experience using deployment and release automation tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, and Chef 

  • Understanding of content management systems such as Drupal, Microsoft Sharepoint.  

  • Strong sense of ownership over issue resolution. 

  • Understanding of web services technologies including HTTP,  HTTPS, WSDL, and REST 

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and feature concepts.
